Master of Accountancy

The Master of Accountancy (MACC) degree at UNC Charlotte is designed to help students successfully complete the CPA exam and prepare them for careers in public accounting, industry, banking and other organizations. It will also help prepare interested students for further study in doctoral programs or law school.

Our program strengthens the technical competency of students in specialized accounting fields including tax and financial accounting/auditing which provides graduates with the knowledge and judgment to succeed as an accounting professional.

Our graduates are top performers on the CPA exam and are heavily recruited by area public and private accounting firms and financial institutions.

CPA Preparation

In addition to the extensive background you’ll receive in the classroom, you may also participate in a CPA review for additional preparation prior to sitting for the CPA Exam. Our program and faculty provide specific guidance on how to successfully prepare for the CPA exam throughout your time in the program. The MACC program also has a strong working relationship with Becker CPA Review, who offers courses to prepare students for the CPA exam.

Active Recruiting Environment

The Belk College of Business has strong ties to the Charlotte business community. We have a formal placement structure that provides numerous opportunities for you to engage with recruiters and hiring managers. We typically have 20+ firms and companies participate in the recruitment process each fall!

Career Coaching + Professional Development

Define your professional development plan in one-on-one career counseling sessions. You and your career coach will explore personal and career development topics such as personal branding, managing your job search, networking strategies and professional performance techniques. You can also expand your knowledge base by attending the Belk College’s regular professional development sessions. Topics range from building your network and successfully marketing yourself to interviewing, negotiations and business etiquette.
